    Why should it take 2-3 months to investigate? The guy fell off a beam. He either had a safety lanyard and didn’t use it, or one wasn’t provided. I just hope he was here legally so we don’t subsidize another illegal. Judging by his name it’s a possibility.

    I guess it was too much to expect this story to get reasonably-articulated commentary WITHOUT pulling the “race” card, because that’s exactly what it is. How do you know, Abe, that the guy wasn’t a natural-born citizen of the US, dare I say, even California? Think about that the next time someone riffs on your name–oh, we can’t do that since you didn’t use your last name, and we all know there was once an American president named Abe!

    Oh, by the way…the points you raised in your comment are exactly why it’d take 2-3 months of careful investigation, because facts are facts, that must be separated from emotional responses and reactions…

    Hey big mouth Mike….read Abe’s post again. His only comment was the “possibility” which in your fine state is highly likely. Why are YOU so quick on the race trigger?

    In case you aren’t aware, people east your location are fed up with the illegal Mexican problem that has it’s roots in your state and has spread across the country. Better get used to the sensitivity on the subject. The U.S. taxpayers shouldn’t be paying for this problem. And the U.S. lacks the backbone to address the problem. Look at last week’s incident where some Mexican “pirates” shot and killed an American on a wave runner. The U.S. wouldn’t retrieve the body because it was technically over the “border”. That’s B.S.

    Fair enough, Jake; I can see that just as Abe’s comment sparked a rather subjective observation from me, so has my comment done the same for you, although I try not to resort to name-calling.

    As for the murder of the wave-runner victim, 1)the lake where the shooting occured straddles the international border;
    2) the couple were on the Mexican side to get some photos of an old Spanish/Mexican mission or church that was partially submerged in the lake when they were attacked;
    3) the husband/victim was aware of the pirates’ existence and the risks involved (because of the type of work he did). Because the body is most likely in the water, and due to the inherent danger posed by those pirates, the local US authorities opted not to pursue them or attempt to retrieve the victim’s body. Yes, Jake, I do watch the news every now and then. It’s amazing what you can learn on MSNBC or Investigation Discovery shows!

    ” …..due to the inherent danger posed by those pirates, the local US authorities opted not to pursue them or attempt to retrieve the victim’s body.”

    Does anyone other than me find this rationale totally unacceptable and dis-concerting? The USA is afraid to confront a bunch of Mexican thugs who murdered one of it’s citizens for no good reason and we’re afraid to do anything about it? Nothing good comes from Mexico and this proves it. A couple of SEAL teams in Zodiac boats should have been dispatched to eliminate (yes, KILL) the so-called pirates. America shouldn’t care about what Mexico thinks about that. I’m embarassed over our country’s lack of courage to throw a punch when necessary.
