Three Southern California wildfires that ignited July 29 are mostly contained, but they still did a fair amount of damage, according to fire officials.
The Crown fire, which burned in Los Angeles County seven miles northwest of Acton, and forced evacuations was the worst of the fires, and is 87 percent contained as of press time. To date, it burned 13,918 acres, destroyed nine structures and incurred $6.7 million in claims, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.
The Bull Fire, which started eight miles north of Kernville, Calif., is 85 percent contained, burned 16,460 acres and incurred $10.2 million in claims to date, NIFC said. Fourteen structures have been lost in that fire to date.
The third blaze — the West Fire — was considerably smaller, having burned 1,658 acres before it was fully contained. Estimated claims to date are $6.5 million, NIFC said.
