I, for one, am glad to see this thrown out! I am truly sorry the officer is paralyed and am very happy that paralyzation is the worst that happened in this incident – but come on guy. Really. You left your 45 in the backseat with a 3 year old and you sued the gun maker & the holster maker? The State should be investigating YOU for criminally negligent parenting.
Responsibility for being an IDIOT falls squarely on you.

It truly is heart breaking to see someone injured. It is tragic. Tragic or not – the fact of the matter is that the Officer received a great deal of training before he was issued a firearm. He accepted the responsibility to keep the firearm away from children (and others) when he was issued the gun. The son should have NEVER had access to the weapon. It is the injured officer’s negligence that caused the misfire. If there is “fault” here – it is the officer’s. He included the holster mfg in the suit? Come on! It is a GUN. It is made to SHOOT. You simply can not make a Gun Safe.

I beg to differ. Guns are perfectly safe IN THE HANDS OF A RESPONSIBLE ADULT. Our society is always looking for someone or something else to blame for it’s own stupidity and irresponsibility. There’s nothing wrong with the trigger mechanisms or safeties on the Glock pistol. That’s why it’s the #1 WEAPON carried by most law enforcement officers. There is no excuse or sympathy for a retired LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER who made the extremely poor decision to carry a loaded weapon in the back seat of a personal vehicle where a 3 year old child was sitting. What’s even more pathetic is he tries to shift the blame to the manufacturer to make money to pay his expenses. Shame on him and his attorney.
