Im sure the firepeople did a great job handling the fire. But when they closed down interstate 15 for a time they could of done a better job. We were traveling south on 15 when we hit a road closed sign at Dubois so we went up the exit ramp and seen two vehichles there with people standing outside them and a barrier with a sign on it saying road closed on the on ramp and an arrow pointing into Dubois. So we turned and drove into Dubois and got to the end of the road and hadn’t seen any other sign so we saw the road turn to run parrell to the interstate and followed it and ended up in Hamer and saw another roard closed sign and more vehichles up on the overpass on the freeway with people outside and several other vehichles with travlers in them so we went over to see what was happening. We were told about the fire and told there was no way around and we kept asking about a way around and was being told that living out in the country there was very few roads around this and it was one of the things to put up with living out there, and we told them we didn’t live there and that we was tourist and was not famimliar with the area and asked again and was finaly told if went back quite a few miles we could find a way around and he couldn’t help us out since he wasn’t in charge and he didn’t know what we had been told at the first exit we got off on with the road closed signs and we told them no one was telling any one any thing there. So we went back to Dubois and gased up and found more people there that didn’t know what was happening sowe told them about the fire and didn’t know how long it would be but that wqe were going to try to go down A-1 1nd try to go to Rexburg to go around and try to get back on the 15. Which we did but by the time we got around and was going to cross the 15 we found it was open.

So the point is the people at the first sign we encountered should of been out there giving out info instead of lounging against vehicles. And sooner or later been given info to help travlers with possiable alternate routes or at least informed of the radio channel to keep updated on info casuse there was no sign at that spot to remind you of the radio station that would give you traffic info.

Also it would of been nice to know that the exits for getting gas at night were closed and the only way to get gas was with an atm or credit card.
