A fire burning in the wooded area along the Rio Grande at Corrales has led to evacuations of about 100 homes in the village north of Albuquerque, N.M.
The blaze was reported in the bosque about 7 p.m. on May 23 and was spread by winds.
Firefighters asked residents to voluntarily leave homes in the area.
Fire crews moved bulldozers into the area about midnight to clear brush that could fuel the blaze.
As of Monday morning, it was reported at about 40 acres.
Firefighters had it about 15 percent contained, but winds were kicking up again Monday.
No structures had been reported burned.
State Rep. Ben Roderfer, who evacuated, says smoke was thick and his 100-year-old adobe home is close to the fire.
