Back in the days of the wild west (which still seems to be the case in some states), a man’s horse was his sole method of transporation and earning a living. Depriving him of that horse considered so aggregious that it was punishable by hanging. The horse has been replaced by the automobile. People still depend on it for transportation to doctors, school, and earning a living. What’s really changed in the severity of the crime? Nothing except a lazy _ss legal system that doesn’t think it’s important anymore because insurance companies pay to replace the cars so no harm no foul. Let’s start making grand theft auto a capital offense instead of a video game. When the human garbage that steals cars start spending 10 years in the slammer we might see thefts go down.
