Idaho Man Sentenced for Lying About Car Theft

January 8, 2010

The Idaho attorney general’s office says a man convicted of insurance fraud for falsely reporting his car was stolen will serve 60 days in jail.

Fourth District Judge Richard Greenwood sentenced 32-year-old Michael Davisson.

Police say Davisson reported his car stolen in August 2007, saying he left it overnight at Muggsy’s Sports Bar in Meridian. The 2003 Lexus was found upside down in a field.

Investigators later discovered Davisson had made several calls from his cell phone near the location where the car was found. Davisson later acknowledged making false statements to deceive his insurer.

He pleaded guilty to felony insurance fraud in November.
