Most auto policies call for repairs to be made with “like kind and quality parts”. None of them specify O.E.M. parts. And that’s OK because an un-damaged piece of sheet metal from 2007 vehicle is the same as the one being replaced or repaired. Why should anyone complain?

Some Americans have a love affair with their cars and think they must have “new” vs. “used” parts. That insistance drives up the cost and the insurance premiums. Replacing with new creates an incentive to have a claim. It’s really too bad the “aftermarket” parts industry never gained traction in the auto repair market. You can thank the “big 3” for killing that since it threatened their bloated profits. Did you know that to build a car using new parts it would cost 4 times what the vehicle cost? O.E.M parts are riduculously over-priced.

Watch for the frequency of collisions to increase with all the idiots being on the phone and texting instead of paying attention to driving.
