Every year we hear about the wildfires in the mountains of CA. Every year, the state and federal governments throw away billions of dollars in vain attempts to put them out. Insurors pay billions in claims, many of which are redundant. The state should let the fires burn themselves out and adhere to a deforestation policy to prevent future occurences. The mountains of CA are covered with scrub pines that aren’t that beautiful to look at anyway.
The forest department does do controlled burns and while I agree there may be better ways to deal with this the fires are devastating for both the people and the wildlife. We happen to like our scrub pines.
