Colorado insurance adjusters spent the morning surveying damage and answering phone calls from residents hit by storms that tore through the city of Pueblo late yesterday afternoon. Reports of golf ball-sized hail in Pueblo and tennis ball-sized hail southeast of the city pummeled homes, property and cars.
“Pueblo residents who suffered damage from yesterday’s storms should contact their insurance agent or company representatives immediately,” says Carole Walker, executive director of the Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association.She said serious losses will be given priority in settling claims.
Colorado has been battered by severe weather this summer. The week of severe weather that pounded the South Metro in June caused an estimated $161 million in insured losses and last week’s hail and wind storm in the Wheat Ridge, Lakewood and Arvada area so far is estimated at $350 million in damage. The most expensive catastrophe in Colorado history swept through the Front Range on July 11, 1990, causing $625 million in hail and wind damage – that’s nearly $1 billion in today’s dollars.
