Insurance estimates put demolition and replacement of Huntley Project High School of Worden, Mont., destroyed in a September 2008 arson fire, at nearly $8 million.
School trustees were told that Traveler’s Insurance Co. has pegged replacement costs at about $6.3 million, which does not include permits and fees, engineers and architectural fees and debris removal.
The insurance company is also paying $110,000 a month in expenses for portable buildings that are being used as classrooms. An estimated $892,000 in personal property was also lost.
Terry Sukut of JGA Architects Engineers Planners told the board that a request for bids for demolition of the school could go out in about a month.
