Calif. Teen’s Family Sues Cigna Over Transplant

    A liver transplant is not experimental – When a liver fails – a transplant is performed – with proven results – no experiment – proven surgery that works.

    Here lies the dilema of the double edged sword as the facts surrounding this situation remain that there was a primary condition that was in the process of being treated vis a vis a bone marrow transplant – the likely cause of the failing organ.

    It is clear that CIGNA delayed paying for a surgery by taking a “wait and see” position on the outcome of the bone marrow transplant – and when the time came to pony up the cash to respond to the secondary condition – they failed misrably – Shame on them to place a monetary value on ones life…

    I hope this case brings about some changes to the health care provider system –

    And I pray the parents do the right thing if any monetary award is reached as settlement and donate it to cancer research in their daughters name

    Not the place to start another discussion in this forum about multi-million dollar awards to non-dependent survivors especially of minor children …
