If they don’t want to pay to defend themselves why should anyone else? I know I’m being a cold-hearted person here, but I pay to support my fire district so I don’t have to rely on others. Fire protection is one of the few things I’ll actually vote to increase my property taxes for.

How dumb is this? You have more people killed and more homes destroyed than any other place in the state and yet you won’t pop for a buck a week to have a department. Lastbat wasn’t coldhearted. I would call it tough love. Let em burn!!

It’s not about the 52 dollars, it’s about ceding control over the East County to politicians who are wholly corrupt. They don’t call San Diego, Enron on the Sea for nothing. All the usual suspects backed the tax. We’ve already paid enough taxes to have three county fire departments, but we have to support the tax-rathole that West San Diego County has become.
