Montana, Washington To Decide on Insurance Regulators

Voters in Montana and Washington will decide who will regulate the insurance marketplace in their states.

In Montana, the current Insurance Auditor John Morrison is not seeking re-election. Republican state Sen. Duane Grimes is running against Democrat Monica Lindeen, a former member of the state house.

In Washington, Republican John Adams is challenging the current Insurance Commissioner and Democrat Mike Kreidler. Kreidler is touting his record on saving “consumers more than $130 million in auto and homeowners’ insurance by cutting excessive premium rates proposed by insurance companies,” according to his candidate statement published with the Secretary of State.

Adams is touting his experience in the industry. According to his candidate statement, he began his career as an insurance professional with the Hartford Insurance Group. He later joined the Marsh/McLennan brokerage, and now owns his own small insurance firm.
