    How dare the engineer allow himself to be distracted and have to text message two teenagers? There was no reason for him to be on a cell phone and the discussion had nothing to do with his job. He was obviously a weak-minded jerk who chose to disregard his training and instruction for his own enjoyment. He made the decision to be an engineer. One of the few requirements is paying attention to signals. At high rates of speed even a moments distraction can be fatal and was in this case. It’s not the railroads fault either althought they’re the deep pocket for personal injury attorneys. This was 100% preventable.
