Can you imagine how hard this man is on ANY furniture and he expects someone else to pay when he hurt himself? I suggest that instead of spending money on plaintiff’s attorney, he just join a gym and get some weight off. Too bad the court didn’t say whether he should pay the defendant’s legal fees; that would certainly make others think before they sue….
Can you imagine if this was a 330 lb lawyer who broke the chair? He’d say it didn’t have any warning signs on it about weight limitations and get a bundle. You can’t sue lawyers!
I’ll best this isn’t the first piece of furniture this fat *** has broken. I’d argue the chair had status and was subjected to cruel and unusual punishment.
Had Covell recommended that Burnett not sit on any of the office furniture, there would have been a lawsuit based on discrimination which Burnett surely would have won.
This is just another sterling example of just how low lawyers will go to make a buck. Either off the defendant if they win or off a plaintif who’s got more $$$$ than brains. Covell should now go after the plaintif’s lawyer to recover his time & expense. After its the American way!
Okay, you are some lovable guys!..What distasteful humor!..put yourself in the the plantiffs shoes who besides being hurt,(whether the chair was faulty or not)was embarassed I’m sure! ….put yourself in the other person’s shoes before you say such stupid comments…may you wake up one morning in the body of a overweight person who has low self esteem, lack of self control and low Metabolism!.. ***POOF!*** Now, how does it feel?
Yes, in this country absolutely no one takes responsibility for themselves. It’s always someone else’s fault when something happens. Everyone is as greedy as they can be and if they think they might get a buck or two from someone else, they go for it – ludicrous or not. Yes, the man is overweight, but when you come right down to it…most American’s are! Who knows what, if anything, was wrong with the chair to cause the man to fall. Who cares. It was an accident and NOT somebody’s fault. GREEDY PEOPLE!

I’d make him bring his own chair.
I’d sue the big boy for ruining one of my finest chairs. Deprivation of my butt cheeks sitting in one of my favorite chairs should be worth $5000.
