California To Discuss PAYD Auto Insurance on Oct. 20

The California Department of Insurance has announced that it will host a public hearing at 10 a.m. on Oct. 20, 2008, in San Francisco, to discuss Commissioner Steve Poizner’s proposed pay-as-you-drive auto insurance rating regualtions.

In August, Poizner proposed regulations that would make green auto insurance option available for California consumers, allowing motorists to more accurately pay for the coverage they need, by linking their premium more closely with the number of miles they drive.

The Commissioner will hold a public hearing to provide all interested persons an opportunity to present statements or arguments, either orally or in writing, with respect to the proposed regulations. All persons are invited to submit oral and/or written comments at the scheduled hearing. Written comments can also be submitted before the hearing to:
