You are correct. The homes there at La Conchita offer some of the few remaining “affordable” ocean front properties in Ca. The reason is that they sit under an unstable bluff which has collapsed over and over during the last century. Trust me, if this weren’t the case, there would be mega mansions there instead of beach shantys which are what has been built there. The county needs to condemn the area, force the people to move and rope it off so no one gets hurt the next time the bluff collapses. This won’t happen of course and so at some point in time in the future, there will be another collapse and it will kill and maim more of the residents-and if the “next one” is bad enough, will take out the rr tracks as well as the 101. I wonder who’ll get sued then?

My guess is that the ranch was there first.
