Hundreds Flee Village in Arizona Canyon Hit by Flood

    Why go on a river rafting / hiking trip in a canyon – on a river – in the middle of the AZ Monsoon season where flash flooding, torrential downpours from thunderstorms are at their peak??? The outfitters want to make a buck or two? They have advertisements all over the news about flash flooding and now to cross a stream in your car or you’ll be on the evening news looking like an idiot – I see no such warnings for out-of-towners who come albeit to enjoy the beauty of the state and all it has to offer – but are oblivious to the dangers that this time of year poses…

    As the article states, the earthen dam wasn’t the proximate cause of the flash flood – but rain from a remote area not necessarily where these people were camping…

    Note to self… thunderstorms = rain… rain = too much water for the desert… = flash flooding… no sympathy here
