Only 1% of drivers have a measurable amount of alcohol in their system.

If I were to believe MADD stats, over 40% of the 1,000 pulled over should have been drunk.

It is all in the spin. This article should have been captioned “Arizona wastes time and resources hassling over 1000 drivers to nab only 1 tenth of 1%.” Let’s lower the blood alcohol limit again and see if we can get to 1%.

One of those fifteen were driving with your spouse and kids on the road? What if nabbing one of those with an extreme DUI level saved lives?

I agree MADD over exaggerates the issue. However, I’m not sure we should wait until a drunk kills someone before taking them off the road. As I live near this checkpoint location, it may have saved the life of someone I love.

Those who want to look at numbers of motorists pulled over in relation to percentage of people apprehended are really missing the entire point here. Just recently before the police deployment to pull over people I had a customer of mine and her boyfriend who were killed by a drunk driver who ran a red light. Now you tell me if your the family of these individuals killed that if you knew by the police pulling over 1000 motorists to save the life of your son or daughter do you think that would have been time well spent? Pretty easy to figure that out isn’t it. It’s about the lives saved not just the numbers. Think about it!!

You wasted your time fella, Think things out before you post nonsence.Drunk Drivers cause over 24 Billion dollars in damage in the U.S. every year. 25 cents of our Insurance dollar goes for thew cost. Homicide by Drunk drivers in Americais the only socially acceptable CRIME of violence. Keep this thought, 1 glass of wine, $6.00+, 1 bottle of beer,$5.00+ 1 mixed drink $9.00+, funeral $6/8,000, 2 week stay in hospital. (min)

99.7% of the time DUI is a victimless crime. We’ve got more cops than necessary.

I can see we have too many cops on the road by the total compliance with all of the traffic laws on our highways. What a stupid statement. If you drive drunk you should lose your right to drive. Spoken as the son of an alcoholic who drove drunk a great portion of his life. Drunks put themselves, their families and everyone on the highway in danger.

Bill, there are 1.6m MADD VICTIMS annually in the US. VICTIMS of bad laws that do nothing to save lives.

Do your services apply to these victims?

People would love to hear your logic on how to cope with being a victim Bill.

I agree with Ivy. Who in their right mind ever thinks that a DUI is a victimless crime. They must only be measuring in numbers of how many motorists are killed, so by carl and Dear Bill’s thinking if 1000 motorists are pulled over and it didn’t save 1000 lives then it was a waste of time?? You have got to be kidding. My point was that if you can pull 1000 motorists and save 1 life then it is worth it. Just ask the parents of my insureds whose daughter and boyfriend were killed by a drunk driver last week. Wake up dear bill and carl you jerks. Your part of the problem with your liberal rationalization and justification. Maybe it will happen to you or someone you know and you will understand the real picture then dorks.
