Here’s a real simple fix to Starbucks. Get rid of tip jars. Do not allow them in any of the stores.
This is not a server who gets paid less than minimum wage and spends 1 hour waiting on my party during a meal, a hairdresser who just washed/cut my hair or spent 30 min giving me a mani-pedi.
Starbucks spends about 1 min or less to fix a cup of coffee. Sorry, but I don’t think it’s a service that you should tip for. I don’t tip the folks at Hardees who prepared my thickburger for lunch.
AD, for some reason America thinks we need to tip everyone we come into contact with. And we need to tip them well.
I remember just a short time ago 10-15% was considered a good tip at a sit-down restaurant; now for some reason 20% is deemed an “average” tip. I stopped tipping altogether unless I receive outstanding service.
