His name should be released. He was 16/17 at the time of the crime, and that is old enough to know better. He is not some 10-12 yr. old who does not have a full grasp of the consequences of his acts. I bet that he wouldn’t have to pay $1.00 in restitution to the City/County Bd. of Ed. or its insurance carrier. After he does his stint in Juvenille Camp, his name may even be wiped clean from the felony records. Let the taxpayers who ultimately pay for his crime, know who he is.

KOB is right on. This punk will skate on these charges and I wouldn’t be surprised if he does it again. $30M is only the hard cost of property damage. Think about all those will be deprived of enjoing the historic property. 5 years of strict probation should be required. This little “needle point” needs to be taught a lesson and sending him to a “camp” ain’t gonna get it done.

Wonder when he gets out, if the community gets ahold of him, what his fate may be. Could be better than restitution!

First: No or very little english is spoken at Garfield
Second: They have an active “mexican heritage” program which teaches -get this- Aztec (actually toltec)- instead of english as a second language
Third: they haven’t built a new high school in LA proper for over 30 years so I’ll bet the kid was just trying to “better his people” and get them a new high school plant
