    willy,
people like you hide behind this forum to rant against poor mexicans. is that the best you can do?

All the ideas proposed so far to deal with illegal immigration fall short because are impractical. In my company if any of you were to propose such non-sense I would personally fired you immediately.

The only way to resolve the illegal immigration crisis is not to deny it and dig our heads in the sand but to come up with logical and practical solutions. Leave the emotions at the door and if you cannot do that then keep your mouth shut!

By the way Willy my friend, I am not a lib. Whatever you say doesn’t make me one. Remember that! On the other hand what are you? a limited thinker who can’t see past their nose?

Thank you for the real facts regarding Richardson’s
record re: Illegal Aliens in New Mexico!
Now we know why he wants to give citizenship
    to and reward illegal aliens!
Interesting fact: Richardson’s mother flew from
Mexico so he could be born in the USA.
    Bill Richardson=Anchor Baby!?

But you have to realize that according to liberals, there is no such thing as an objective reality. Therefore, in their post-modern, deconstructionist philosophy, there are only ‘narratives’ and each persons reality is as valid as anothers – unless you fall into a disfavored(to libs) class.

Nobody has ever really explained with sufficient facts how a drivers license improves driving skills. Don’t confuse “insurance” with “drivers license”. The fact is that the vast majority of drivers in this country have licenses, and they commit the vast majority of accidents. Also, who’s to say that illegal immigrants didn’t have a drivers license in their home country? If having a license makes a safe driver, why does this country still have so many accidents?

Likewise with insurance – having a license doesn’t equate to having insurance. States not known for an illegal immigration problem still have high percentages of uninsured drivers. Plus, are insurers going to issue a policy where they can’t pull a prior driving record? Will the price be cheap enough for illegal immigrants to purchase the coverage?

This entire subject seems to me to be nothing more than a “red herring” to distract from the true question – which is, what part of “illegal” don’t you understand?

Egads, I feel like I’m back in philosophy class. So is Richardson a post-modernist, or a deconstructionist? I’m confused.

As for illegals’ “rights,” they have the right not to be shot as they passively throw up their hands and enter the paddy wagon when they are caught.

I don’t understand how Gov. Richardson’s policy cannot be seen as a violation of the provisions in federal law that criminalizes behavior that aids and abets illegal immigrants.

As other states and cities pass laws that make their communities less hospitable to illegal immigrants, New Mexico can expect an influx of the illegals looking for more comfortable areas.

We need legislation that will terminate all federal monies going to local governments that create sanctuaries for illegals.

I agree with Tom, illegal is illegal.

The problem I have with the article is that Richardson is saying that increased rates of insured drivers equates to public safety. He cites and increase in the number of drivers being insured and a decrease in fatalities and declares one follows the other. HOGWASH. For the same reasons that Tom mentions.

Richardson misleading the public by his questionable use of stats? Who would ever have thought it? Answer: Anyone that knows anything about Richardson’s reputation and record would likely not be very surprised.

He’s a liberal, driven by well-meaning intentions rather than concrete, beneficial results. Other than that I’m sure he’s a great guy.

Most foreign nationals don’t need a driver’s license from any US state, as long as they have a valid driver’s license from their home country. The problem is that, unlike in most other countries, a US driver’s license is used as an identity card. Undocumented immigrants aren’t trying to comply with insurance laws or even driving laws: they want a valid ID – that they can then use to get a phone, utilities, and maybe even a voter registration card. :-)
