just think how it would help mother earth to get the uninsured cars off the road. And if you don’t mind me saying, us nasty humans would be better off too.

Attention Mr. Poizner : you do not need Insurance to drive a car – you do not need a license to drive a car – you need a CAR to drive a car…what a crock….following in the well compromised footsteps of John Garemendi – this is why Cali should return to an appointed Commish

It’s a ballot measure… that means it has to pass a popular vote.

Although the responsible people in N Cali get to vote the same as everyone else, there’s a whole lot more of people in the major cities then there are in the rest of the state. To pass anything in Cali you don’t worry about wine country, you look at the 5 largest cities (San Fran, LA, San Diego, San Jose – plus 1 more for good measure, you pick).

We’re talking about some of the most liberal cities in the US, over-run with illegals (oh wait, undocumented workers) with really good PR, and suckers who’ll vote to protect the rights of the poor, downtrodden, and imigrant population. They have it so hard already, no one’s going to vote to make it more difficult on those masses.

This is just the Insurance Commissioner trying to justify his pay with a vote he knows is dead before he even wrote a speach to announce it.

Mr. Poizner finding insurance for the uninsured is your job, all that your proposal would do is guarantee that they could never afford insurance. Next we should put all people without medical insurance in jail so they can’t file a claim. This would work because then they would have medical care while the were in jail.

California would not be the only state to do this. As I recall New York does this (or used to). It was effective, the police remove your license plate and send you the bill for the “service”.

California has the Low Cost Insurance program that is designed to help the lower income people get insurance. Unfortunately the poor aren’t buying into it. So there are a lot of uninsured, especially in the big cities.

It will be interesting to watch the battle ensue.

who then has the audacity to spend money on another election to ask voters whether or not he should do his job.

They have done that in Maryland for a long time. My wife was recently hit by a guy driving someone else’s car, no license, no insurance and the registered owner said the guy driving had bought the car from him several months prior.

He should have gone to jail. Nope. Ticket, no severe penalty and my wife has a permanent disability without recourse. Welcome to California.

Forget the plates, take the damn cars. If you don’t have a car you can’t drive it.
    Duh!
