Screwing little boys is gross and wrong. The Catholic Priests who do this probably don’t use condoms either because it’s unholy, even grosser. What a bunch of hypocrites! Hells fire awaits- repent.

Let’s do the math. $660 million minus $264 million (ridiculous) to lawyers equals $396 million. Divide that by 508 victims and you get $779,528 each. Divide that amount by 30 years of hidden abuses and you get $25,984 each. Divide it by 50 years of suffering and you get $15,591. I know, I know, I should be working. But I just wanted to point out that the victims are being screwed twice. Once by the priests and once by their own lawyers outragous fees.

Besides that, no amount of money will undo what has been done.

the alleged victims did not have to be part of the suit to obtain this money and thus not “screwed” over again. they could have just bucked up, dealt with their situation and lived their life w/o suing.

For most of them, it wasn’t about the money jonah…you sound like a retired priest from Los Angles.

More important than the money is the apology extended by the Cardinal – a long time coming – but the acknowldgement of wrong that all of the victums sought from the very beginning.

The $246 million paid to the lawyers is almost as big a crime, but few seem to care.

No amount of money can wash away the pain from the repugnant acts inflicted upon the victums in this case. The money lost by the church is mostly symbolic as punishment for its failure to protect their parishoners. It sends the message that you no longer can protect and conceal the despicable acts perpetrated by those who hold positions of trust and leadership.

The church must clean house, and deal swiftly with those cases which have yet to come to light, and micromanage the vigilance of all those serving in all capacities of church functions to ensure against repetition of these crimes.

FIRST THE CHURCH HAS TO MOVE FASTER THAN AN EXPRESS TRAIN TO GET THE KNOWN PERPS OUT OF THE PRIESTHOOD. BY “KNOWN” THAT MEANS THE PRIESTS WHO ALREADY HAVE A RECORD OF ABUSE, ETC. AND ALSO ACT TO KEEP PERPS OUT OF THE CHURCH BY DOING A BETTER JOB OF CHECKING BACKGROUNDS AND …YES: PROFILING THE APPLICANT FOR ANY REAL OR PROBABLE TENDENCY TOWARDS ABUSE
THE POPE HAS TO REALLY YELL ABOUT THIS
WILL IT HAPPEN. LIKE YOU, I DON’T THINK SO
THE PROBLEM IS: THE PERPS HAVE COME TO RECOGNIZE THAT THE CHURCH IS A PLACE WHERE THERE IS AN UNLIMITED SUPPLY OF CHILDREN, VULNERABLE ADULTS, ETC
IT’S SICKENING, BUT ( HERE GOES) AS A CATHOLIC. I’M NOT YET WILLING TO “JUNK” MY CHURCH AND FAITH JUST BECAUSE OF THESE “PRIESTS”..-THEY’RE JUST CRIMINALS HIDING IN A PRIETS HABIT
MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH HAVE GOT TO CHALLENGE THE LOCAL BISHOP, AND CARDINAL TO TREAT OFFENDERS SEVERLY AND IMMEDIATELY TURN THEM IN TO THE POLICE FOR PROSECUTION
THEY BELONG IN JAIL, NOT IN CHURCH
