Wash. Seeks Worker Heroes, Heroines that Have Saved Lives

May 18, 2007

Washington’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board is accepting nominations for the governor’s annual lifesaving awards. All Washington workers covered by the workers’ compensation system or a selfinsured employer are eligible for the lifesaving nomination.

According to the board, the heroic act must have taken place between July 1, 2006, and June 30, 2007, any day or time, anywhere in the world. The nominee must have performed “hands-on” aid in saving a life. For law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians and other emergency aid professionals, the lifesaving action must be “above and beyond the line of duty.”

Award recipients will be featured guests at the 56th Annual Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Conference at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center. The Sept. 26-27 conference is co-sponsored by the Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board and the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.

Deadline for submitting applications is July 31.
