Great news this wonderful instrument was recovered intact and will once again be in the hands of a legitimate owner after the auction.

As a fan of fine stringed instruments, and also one who appreciates nice chunks of money (don\’t we all?), I have to wonder how wise it was to leave essentially $62,000 of assets unattended on a busy public sidewalk for even a moment.

Thankfully, insurance existed to cover the owner\’s $50k loss on the violin. As for the $12k cash, that\’s the cost of failing to recognize risk exists everywhere we go. The message here is you good guys have to understand the bad guys to avoid their crimes of opportunity. Don\’t give them the easy chance, and you probably won\’t be a victim.

I assume the person suffering the $12k cash loss will carry the $ on them next time.
