We recently had a \”CPS\” claim in our office – the injured employee was a member of my family (I\’m ashamed to admit) and I knew what she was doing in her 3 years of \”disability\” time and it wasn\’t being disabled. I begged the adjuster to investigate this, but she wouldn\’t. St. Fund paid out almost $100,000. without batting an eye. Where we they when we needed them ?????
Debbie, as a 12-year employee of SCIF, I suggest you forward your concerns about your family member\’s \”disability\” claim to State Fund\’s Fraud Investigation Unit (shame on that adjuster if they truly did ignore your earlier attempts at enlightenment!). The claim was actually settled in May last year, but did take 3 years to settle and not only did my adjuster not listen, she basically admonished me for even suggesting she look closer at the claim. I told her that the claimant was my niece and I knew that although she was claiming she couldn\’t even perform such duties as driving, that she was out there driving. It didn\’t make me proud, it was embarrassing, but right is right … the adjuster seemed too busy to even listen. Anyways, it\’s probably too late to contact the fraud department and had the adjuster advised me that that was an option at the time, I would have. I don\’t like to see anybody, including family, get away with something so evil.
Debbie, it\’s never too late to report suspected fraud, which this seems to suggest. By all means, address your concerns to the Fraud Unit as I noted earlier; be sure to have as much detailed information as possible regarding the claim, including the claim number and name of the adjuster involved (this is important, as sometimes claims files can be shifted among adjusters depending on the staffing availability or needs). State Fund agressively pursues all fraud allegations, and I get the feeling from your posts, that your conscience won\’t let you rest until you make someone aware and listen to you.

Imagine that,a 50,000.00$ cushy goverment job and over 100,000$ in loan brokering fees.It goes to show you,as much finger pointing at private sector as goverment officials do,the biggest \”rip offs\”are goverment workers and goverment elites.
It\’s slugs like this that cause the abuse and give the State Employee\’s a bad name. There should be no deal made by the DA when pursuing criminal charges. It should be the MAX. Also, the State should be able to confiscate all assets to repay the State System the funds paid. As well as, Restitution, and the State cost incured during the investigation and Court Case. Examples must be made to get the message out that fraud of our State System that is literally paid for by those in the Great State of California will not tolerate abuse.
