\”Googling\” with the name of ANY insurance company, and including words like \’deceptive claim settlement practices\’, \’unfair claim settlement practices\’, \’low-balling claims\’, \’contractor overhead and profit\’, \’trickery and deceit\’, FBI and etc. type words, can pull up the \”real face\” of one\’s present, or potential. insurer.
Disconnnect, misconnect, just get the business. Reality is, most insureds before the loss want the best price so they are very complicit in allowing the company or agent to \”lean a little low\” on the replacement and competing companies might be forced a little lower to get the business. Then the loss a few years later and the cost conscious insured becomes a \”duped consumer\” for loss purposes. In fairness to them, however, I know that whenever I would ask a claims department about seeeing a total property loss to get some hints about current values and r/c the company never wanted to really show me anything that might be helpful.
