What about SB840, the bill proposing California go into the health care business and provide health care for ALL Californians (legal or not as long as there is a 3 MONTH residency). Instead of the employer paying for (or a percentage of) the employee’s health insurance, there will now be a “tax” on wages to fund this program. It will also do away with Medical, Healthy Families, Military (Tri-Care for Life) programs. Even the retired people will have to cough up 3.5% of their retirement to fund this.

Of course, we will establish a new commissioner job, and few other commissions and agencies to administer this program.

Sorry folks, but our California government does not have a good track record of administering anything. We should tread very carefully on this bill.

It has passed committee… check it out.

So the answer to universal Health Care is to offer skeletal plans while cadillac plans drive up the overall costs? Fat chance. At some point we must realize that third party payor is a rotten way to allocate health care. Anyone serious about reducing the cost of health care dramatically will untimately come to the conclusion to outlaw health care plans and health care insurance. At that point it becomes market sensitive and the prices will tumble down.

Here we go again, our commissioner is on the bandwagon just before a major election for Lt. Gov. seeking all the major news coverage on the most controversial issue in the state and still quoting (ZIP CODES)along with all other issues regarding Health Care Costs. Seems like he can’t even manage his own Dept of Ins. effectively, largest DOI buget in the nation with the least effective results with out of control internal costs, let alone come to terms on health care costs and issues.
