Registration is now open for the 54th annual Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Conference Sept. 28 and 29 at the new Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center in Washington.
The conference, co-sponsored by the Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board and the Department of Labor and Industries, is one of the largest of its kind in the nation and annually draws thousands of workers, employers and safety and health professionals. This year’s theme is “Build a Better Tomorrow – Practice Safety and Health.”
Gov. Christine Gregoire is scheduled to open the conference and present several lifesaving awards. Keynote speaker is John Drebinger, a safety-and-health professional who uses fun, magic and stories to inspire others to achieve greater safety awareness.

A $120 advance registration fee covers the two-day event; cost at the door is $140 per person. Groups of 25 or more pay $90 each, and students and apprentices pay only $20 each. Conference attendees are eligible for continuing-education credits from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene, and the Human Resource Certification Institute.
