Calif. RV Driver Charged with Murder, Attempted Murder Following Weekend Collision

A Palmdale, California man arrested after the 28-foot motor home he was driving reportedly hit several vehicles in the Antelope Valley on Saturday was charged this week with murder and attempted murder, the District Attorney’s office announced.

Christopher Anthony Hall, 40 (dob 5-5-1965), was charged in case No. MA 032340 with 21 felony counts, including the murder charge and six of attempted murder. He also was charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon by means likely to produce great bodily injury, six counts of assault on a peace officer, one count of evading an officer causing injury, one count of evading an officer with willful disregard, one count of driving under the influence causing injury and one count of unlawfully taking a vehicle. The complaint also charges two misdemeanor counts of hit-and-run driving.

Hall was being held without bail. He was scheduled to appear for arraignment this week in Antelope Valley Superior Court in Lancaster.

Authorities said Lilian Mary Arevalo was killed when her car was hit by the motor home as it traveled on 47th Street East. The victim lost control of her car, which crashed into a telephone poll, killing her.

There were two other minor collisions as the motor home continued on, authorities said. Sheriff’s deputies spotted the motor home near Avenue P and 25th Street East. There was a short pursuit that ended when the RV allegedly hit a car carrying four teenagers and dragged it about 150 feet before the vehicle overturned and Hall was arrested. Deputies said the RV did not belong to the defendant.

The teenagers are named as victims in the assault with a deadly weapon charges. The complaint also names as victims six deputies in the attempted murder and assault on a peace officer charges.

If convicted, Hall could be sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
