Colo. DWC Continues Rules Revision Project

The Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation is in the process of revising the Workers’ Compensation Rules of Procedure.

The DWC announced that the first phase of the project is complete. Phase 1 consisted of simplifying and streamlining the rules, as well as a new format and numbering system. DWC is now ready to begin Phase 2 of the project.

Phase 2 is an external review by those who handle workers’ comp claims or are otherwise affected by the proposed changes. Due to the magnitude of revising all of the rules at one time, the DWC is asking for a review period in order to refine the proposals further, if necessary, prior to a formal rules hearing. Formal rule making, which includes public comment and hearing, is anticipated in late summer or early fall of this year.

Those interested should review the new format and changes at their convenience and submit comments on the proposed changes. A form has been created on the DWC’s Web site that will allow interested parties to automatically submit their comments by e-mail. That Web site is available at workerscomp.cdle.state.co.us/

Comments may also be submitted via postal service to the Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation; Rules Revision Project; 1515 Arapahoe Ste. 590; Denver, Colo., 80202. Interested parties who would like a copy of the proposed rules on disc, can contact Timiann Flores at 303-318-8769 or Karen Hoppes at 303-318-8771. The Division will be reviewing comments through June 4, 2004.
