In June, 2003, I formed my own company in San Jose, California. Platinum Facility Services is a commercial janitorial service. In order for my company to be profitable, I must be billing $200,000 per month to survive. Fortunally, in the first 7 months I was able to generate $100,000 per month of business. I currently have to pay $120,000 per year for workers compensation as where 3 years ago, it was about half as much.
Why would any entrepreneur want to start a company in California. They say small business is the back bone to California’s economy. Imagine this, if small business continues to fold or move out of our state and there is no new companies forming in California, then this state will have even bigger problems.
Every day I wounder if I am going to survive.

    Sincerely,
    Roger Daniels

It is to bad most Americans in this country have short memories. In 1995 the people were warned of the looming problems and premiums. Well it has hit CA. Howerver, the problem is 3 fold. 1. Good old Pete Wilson deregulated the over sight in insurance and energy. Then we were hit with ENRON. We are still paying on that one. Premiums – good old greed has taken over, not by businesses – but by the business of insurance. The third problem which no one likes to address is our “free trade” – The Greed or Corp., America is sending jobs to the Far East, Latin America, Mexico, and other countries. Seems they can exploit workers there more so than in this country, and not be held accountable for sickness, health, death and other employment related issues. Seems the stock holders and Chairmans/Chairpersons and profits are of the main concern. God help this country if a major war/conflict was to arise and our “free trade” was interupted. America would be like England was in WWII for the simple fact most factories have been closed down and the work force is now non existant in America these days. For example – F-16 American aircraft have their computer parts not made in the USA – rather Japan.
Lets stop passing the buck and put the buck problems where they belong. Which is WE THE PEOPLE – lets also go one step further. Lets abolish workers compensation. It has not worked since 1913, it never will. Let modern civil litigation prevail – maybe that would be one start to WC “REFORM”
