Garamendi, Lockyer to Address ACIC’s XIV Annual General Counsel Seminar

Presentations by state officials and panel discussions that present the most up-to-date overviews on issues affecting property/casualty insurers writing business in California will highlight the Association of California Insurance Companies’ XIV Annual General Counsel Seminar this summer.

“We have designed an interesting and informative program that features a number of expert speakers and panels on a broad range of issues,” said Jeff Fuller, executive vice president and general counsel of ACIC.

The seminar will take place July 23-25 at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and offers 10 minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) credits for California attorneys. (Credits for other states are possible).

Featured keynote speakers include California Attorney General Bill Lockyer, California Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi and California Assembly Insurance Chairman Juan Vargas (D-San Diego).

Punitive damages, privacy, appellate case reviews, market conduct exams, and national trends in insurance legislation and regulation will be among the issues presented during the panel discussions. Current hot topics such as unfair business practices, credit-based insurance scoring, workers’ compensation, the homeowners insurance market and mold liability will also be addressed.
