So the state thinks registration and the fees associated with it will improve safety? But mandating insurance does nothing except take money from people? Insurance PROTECTS! Not just the insured’s assets in case of a liability/property damage claim for damages, but also PROTECTS the rest of us who share the road and sidewalks and just living space near those who operate a mo-ped. Without insurance, you’ll see a lot of potential lawsuits that cannot be resolved. I say “potential” because the average person does not have sufficient assets to pursue a lawsuit, unless they can find an attorney willing to work “pro bono”. Just goes to show you that folks just don’t get insurance. All I hear is how they pay in and get nothing in return, as if the confidence that you won’t go broke if you suffer an “accident”, isn’t worth having….how much are you willing to pay to be able to transfer the costs of a financial “disaster” to someone else? That’s what you get when you buy insurance. So go ahead and get your mo-ped and run down a few people and see what happens next. All of a sudden you’ll be wanting to blame someone for not PROTECTING YOU!
