Alabama Highway Deaths Down 2nd Straight Month

State troopers say highway traffic deaths are down in Alabama for the second straight month.

The Alabama Department of Public Safety says 29 people died in wrecks investigated by state troopers in August. That compares to 47 deaths in July and 58 in June.

Of the 29 people killed in crashes in August, authorities say 15 people weren’t wearing seat belts.

The department says 325 people have died in highway accidents so far this year, which is 14 fewer than during the same period in 2012.
