Court Records Indicate Guilty Plea in Katrina Case

June 4, 2013

Federal court records indicate a man charged with Hurricane Katrina fraud plans to plead guilty in the case.

Richard Frank Bourgeois Jr. and Wallace Gary Bourgeois were indicted on charges that they lied about their primary residence in order to collect hurricane relief money.

The indictment says that from 2006 to 2008 the men lied when claiming that a house in coastal Waveland, Miss., was their primary residence when Katrina stuck on Aug. 29, 2005.

Their trail was scheduled to begin Tuesday.

A court filing Sunday said Richard Bourgeois intends to plead guilty in the case.
