I have a fundamental problem with paying the estate of an 87 year old woman in poor health anything. If there’s an award, it should go into a fund to oversee nursing homes. The surviving family doesn’t deserve to get rich over an accident. They probably rarely visited the old person anyway. People go to nursing homes to die. They aren’t up-lifting places to be. It’s not so much a question of “if” somethings going to happen to them, only “when”.
