Asbestos Found in Tennessee Federal Building

A federal building in Oak Ridge, Tenn., has been shut down indefinitely after an inspection found asbestos inside.

The building houses about 350 Department of Energy workers and contractors along with staff members of U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann’s office.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that a meeting is set for Monday to determine where the employees will work while the building is closed.

The temporary shut-down is a precaution after insulation with asbestos in it was found undone in the building’s heating and cooling system, but preliminary tests show the building is clean.
