Law Firm Assesses North Carolina Need From Hurricane Irene

May 24, 2012

A Raleigh law firm is working with Legal Aid of North Carolina to find what problems people still have from Hurricane Irene.

The Daily Reflector of Greenville reported that Womble Carlyle and Legal Aid are asking individuals who may be struggling with recovery problems from last August’s storm to call a toll-free hotline. Such issues could include insurance claims, construction scams and mortgage-related problems.

Tripp Greason of Womble Carlyle says the information will be used to assess what legal services may be needed in the region. The project will focus on relief issues in 21 counties.

The hotline number is 1-866-219-5262. Staff will interview callers, answer questions and help assess the need.

Hurricane Irene made landfall Aug. 27 in North Carolina, killing seven people in the state.
