Tennessee Cites Company for Safety Violations

May 3, 2012

State officials have fined a Trenton, Tenn., construction company nearly $11,000 for safety violations in a fatal Greenfield building collapse.

According to The Jackson Sun, The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration levied the fine April 5 against Arnco Construction, Inc.

The company was working in a vacant downtown lot next to a building that housed a pizza restaurant when the structure collapsed on Jan. 23, dropping bricks onto two Arnco employees. The collapse buried 32-year-old Renardo Jackson under six feet of rubble, killing him. Another worker, Kevin Davis, was buried in rubble up to his waist, but was rescued.

The state investigation did not fault Arnco for the collapse, but found it did not take adequate worker safety precautions.

The newspaper said it couldn’t reach company officials for comment.
