Florida AG Hires Legal Team for Florida Oil Spill Claims

March 13, 2012

Attorney General Pam Bondi has hired four law firms to help with Florida’s claims related to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill two years ago.

Bondi said Friday the firms will work on a contingency basis, earning 2.5 percent of the gross recovery, if any.

The lead firm is Nix Patterson & Roach, which is based in Texas but has an office at Grayton Beach in the Florida Panhandle.

Two other Panhandle firms are part of the legal team, Rivard, Duncan & Buzzett and Harrison Sale McCloy, both in Panama City.

Tampa-based Fowler White Boggs rounds out the team.

A BP well off Louisiana spewed oil into the gulf. It scared tourists away from Florida although only a relatively small amount of oil came ashore in the Panhandle.
