Georgia County Bans Bulldog for Life

A bulldog has been banned from a Georgia county for life after being accused of biting a child.

The Savannah Morning News reports that Oreo can never return to Chatham County under an agreement approved by a judge and filed Wednesday.

Chatham County Superior Court Judge Louisa Abbot approved the consent agreement. It also calls for Oreo’s new owner, The Lexus Project Inc., to have the American Bulldog neutered and placed with a rescue agency or animal shelter outside Chatham County.

In return for Oreo leaving, Chatham officials say they won’t take legal actions against Oreo.

The nonprofit Lexus Project, which aims to save dogs some consider dangerous, had sued Savannah-Chatham Animal Control officials over removal of the dog. That case led to the agreement to ban Oreo.
