Georgia Man Sent to Prison in Death of Insurance Agent

A Savannah man has been sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted of killing an insurance agent during a robbery.

The Savannah Morning News reports that 41-year-old Pedro Walker was given two consecutive life prison terms in the April 29 killing of Christopher Shuman.

Shuman, a 33-year-old agent for United Insurance Co., was found slain beside a back fence of a home where Walker was living. Testimony at Walker’s preliminary hearing showed Shuman had been out collecting insurance premiums from several customers around the time he was killed. An autopsy found he had been stabbed in the neck.

A jury on Monday deliberated for just over two hours before convicting Walker on all counts — murder, felony murder, and armed robbery.
