Fire Gear Stolen From Kentucky Volunteer Fire Hall

Someone has stolen firefighting equipment from a central Kentucky volunteer fire hall.

Among items missing from the Rineyville Fire Department is a thermal imaging camera which firefighters use to locate people in burning homes. It’s valued at $8,000. Fire Chief Shane Crutcher told WAVE-TV in Louisville it seems there would be enough public trust that a fire department wouldn’t be targeted by thieves.

Other items noticed missing include a laptop computer, an air pack, a hand-held radio and a truck headlight bar. The loss totals about $20,000.

Hardin County Sheriff Charlie Williams said there was no forced entry to the building and investigators aren’t ruling out an inside job because it appears specific gear was stolen.
