Kuleba said she feels no satisfaction from the $250,000 she received from each of the doctors’ insurers. And she wanted to make sure the doctors involved were punished. And she also wanted to educate the public about malignant hyperthermia?

If she wanted to educate, that has happened. If she wanted to punish the doctors, they were found to have done nothing wrong. If she wanted more money…

What it is is good old American greed. What part of the perfectly good explanation exhonerrating the medical professionals didn’t she understand. A bad outcome doesn’t always translate to malpractice. In face, most don’t but our juries are more sympathetic than intelligent and objective. Someone doesn’t always have to PAY. Sometimes, nobody is at fault. It’s hard to believe neither of her parents knew of this genetic condition and alerted the doctors to it pre-surgery.

I can see the parents not knowing about the daughter’s condition if this was her first time undergoing surgery. But give me a break…the mother really wants to fight this hard for money? From the article, it sounds like the anesthesiologist did his job properly. It was just a freak thing that nobody could have prevented. It is very sad, but don’t go making an @$$ out of yourself because you can’t accept the fact that there is nobody to blame for the death of your daughter. And I’m sure the anesthesiologist / surgeon feels horribly about her passing away as well.

Like Franklin asked, which is it? A request for reform, an opportuninty to educate the public, or just plain money that is stoking the fire?

“She and her ex-husband, Tom Kuleba, hoped to turn the tragedy of their daughter’s nationally publicized death into a triumph for others by making sure the doctors involved were punished. They also wanted to educate the public about malignant hyperthermia.”

Give me a break! Two non-medical people living in Boca Raton, Fla. go on a quest to crucify two competent physicians in spite of overwhelming evidence they were not negligent or liable. Being the greedy _itch that she is, she wanted a lot more money. I find it hard to believe the parent’s were ignorant of their daughter’s “rare genetic condition”. They shouldn’t have received any compensation. Whey you lose…..you should lose. And for the record, the public doesn’t want nor need to be educated on malignant hypothermia as it is so rare no one has ever heard of it. Sometimes, things happen and no one is at fault, a concept lost on our legal system.

Without question…..a true tragedy plain and simple!

It was an accident and nothing more on the part of the physicians. I cannot imagine losing a child; but they reacted accordingly as a medical professional should given the circumstances.

Sir, ma’am you’re 15 minutes are up, please stop trying to milk your daughter’s unfortunate and apparently accidental death.

I feel very sorry that this young girl lost her life and these parents lost their child. I sincerely hope breast surgery was medically needed and not just for vanity purposes.

In Palm Beach County cosmetic surgery is a rite of passage.

Is she kidding? What happened to parents who do not allow their children to engage in activities that could result in irreparable harm? The mother should be the poster child for bad parenting!

I completely understand the “vanity” motivations of getting plastic surgery. Last month I had Dr. Dick Johnson perform some minor surgery for me, and it has worked wonders for me. I have more confidence now. I walk down the street and women notice the change. And not to be crude, buy my “performance” has dramtically increased for the better.

I would recomend rhinoplasty for everyone!
