I hope the authorities do follow up, and find who did this. Of course, this is mail fraud. If and when they find the culprit, I hope it is announced, and prosecuted, to the maximum of the law, Federal Law. We will wait….

Should we just believe the USPS that NOTHING happened. come on it is the Post Office, this is common place to screw things up, why do you thik they are asking for another 2 cents. For that matter should we believe Citizens, they screw up even more than the USPS.

what person did this crazy act? would this be considered mail fraud? can this not be traced both electronically as well as the actual card to who placed this request? i would think that this person who did this is in major trouble and should be sent to jail. even pay some restitution to any of those that could have been affected. if it was me, i would make a civil suit or even goto the police for this kind of scare.

Yes, the Postal Inspectors will go after the person(s) responsible. Last time I was in our local post office, they no longer have the cards available, it’s only online now, that suprised me.

It’s believable to me that no mail was lost. Forwarding mail out of a major corporate assigned PO Box would set off red flags. It’s not the same as a forward from a residential address. There are also delays and checks built into the system as a precaution to prevent this very issue for happening. I would be interested in knowing where the mail was forwarded to?

u know, they might just send a fake check with little money in it to look real and then follow it and have the cops arrest them for accepting the check…

It was not forwarded from the PO Box it was forwarded from Citizens physical location. It was forwarded to an apartment in Hialeah according to the news reports.

What I can see from this is that Citizens blew this whole thing out of whack without looking at the entire situation. Why release a press notice that 5 days worth of mail had been forwarded from 2 different locations, when in fact nothing was forwarded because they never approved the forward. Public panic and fear of identity theft is off the charts and now the largest carrier in florida just told the world that potential a million people were affected. Does that mean that the average daily mail drop is 200,000 pieces?
so release a final press notice that tells us the truth. do we have anything to fear or was it averted before anything really happened. And what the hell is up with the post office not being able to tell if any mail was actually forwarded. This is machined and labels printed by a computer, look it up folks. One things is certain, neither Citizens nor the USPS can be trusted 100% so take it with a grain of salt

Citizens is the biggest fraud in the US. Run by the goverment, contracts to all the good ole boys, charging the people of Florida to insure the rich who live on the coast. That whole corperation needs to be shut down

Stop shouting your ignorence. At this particular point in time, it is almost the sole source of coverage for a large number of people that cannot get coverage through a standard carrier. Why? Because a large number of standard carriers have restrictions on where they will write coverage. Why is that? Because the Florida government has held rates at an artifically low point for the past 5 years, and no standard carrier wants to take a risk in an area where they cannot charge the right premium.
