Disaster Aid for West Virginia Storm Victims Tops $3.7M

More than $3.7 million in federal disaster aid has been approved for victims of severe storms that hit parts of West Virginia in March.

Most of the assistance is housing-related. The Federal Emergency Management Agency says $3 million has been approved for temporary housing and home repairs.

The aid also includes $449,200 in low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

President Barack Obama approved a disaster declaration for Greenbrier, Raleigh, Fayette, Kanawha and Mercer counties after severe storms starting March 12 caused flooding and mudslides.
