The federal agency that oversees the trucking industry says it will conduct a compliance review of the Alabama company at the center of a highway crash that killed 11 people last week.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will conduct the review of Hester Inc. of Fayette, Ala., partially because of it’s low safety rating, a spokeswoman for the agency said.
A truck from Hester was traveling southbound on Interstate 65 near Munfordville early March 26 when it crossed over into the northbound lane and hit a van head-on, killing 10 people in the van and the truck driver. Two small children in the van survived.
Candice Tolliver, an agency spokeswoman, says Hester had a driver safety rating of 88.4 on a scale of 100, with 100 being the worst.
